March 2012

March 11, 2012, from The River Farm Visitors' Book

We saw this little book as we were leaving – would have loved to have read more of what everybody said. Such utter poetry! And that is what this piece of paradise inspires – a feeling of poetry.                                                                                     Chris and Haley, March 2012.

We give thanks to our wonderful hosts for the welcome and the hospitality, and all Glory to God for the abundance of beauty and wonder. What a fantastic stopover, never to be forgottten.                                                                            Martin and Lesley, March 2012.

We can only echo what others have already said – a great discovery of this lovely area and peaceful valley. We enjoyed it so much, one of us watching the birds, the other exploring the books – possibly unique as a holiday house in providing a life of Wittgenstein! Many thanks.                                                                                                 Robin and Celia, March 2012.                                                                                                                                                        PS. Thank you Jock for looking after us.                                                                             PPS. This place so exemplifies the maxim that Less is More.

Inspiration taken from the magic of the majesty of Matjiesvlei and a little John Denver – Country Roads:                                                                                                             Almost heaven, Western Cottage, Marble Mountains, Rolling Gamka River. Time stood still here, In the magic of the trees, In he mystery of the mountains, And the whispers of the breeze. Country Roads, Took me there, There where magic’s everywhere, River Farm, Majestic mountains, Country Roads, brought me here. I hear the wonder of the morning, how it calls me, Rising up to welcome more magic in the day. Now we are left wondering, how will we leave? When we only got here yesterday, yesterday…Country Roads, bring us back, To where the river runs a track. Our sad goodbyes leave us blue, to Mr Gecko, and tortoise too, As one last time we admire the view, How we’ll miss this, through and through. The place of regal rock, and the friendly faithful Jock. Who looks on sadly as we pack, Country Roads, please bring us back.                                                    Thank you for the magic. Best wishes.                                                                           Kalinka and Craig, March 2012.

THE OLD SCHOOL HOUSE:

Hi Bronwyn
We have just got home. Had an amazing time…kids loved everything especially swimming in the river and the raft. I love the late afternoons and the total peace and quiet. We are also stuck out here but somehow the Karoo is so, so different. The grannies loved it too..especially my mom who walked all over the show…she wants to come when the aloes are at their most beautiful. Would like to come with her and the kids when the aloes are in bloom…let us know. Thank you for a wonderful two days.                                  Claire, Jake and family, March 2012.
